BRIGHTER SIDE 'STRIPPED' + more new music is on the way!
A lot of people have been asking if I plan to release an acoustic version of "Brighter Side" much like I did with the last album. The answer is yes I do plan to do it. IN FACT I went into the studio this last week to get some tracks done for it and plan to finish that up once I get back from the Augustana tour dates.
Brighter Side "Stripped" will be all 12 songs off the new album performed with simply acoustic guitar and vocals, much like my live solo shows. It hasn't been decided if it will be a digital only release or not. If I do press hard copies (CD's) they will be very limited, so stay tuned for that.
After that, I plan to record an E.P. of the extra tracks that didn't make it on Brighter Side, so even more music is on the way. Until then, if you haven't purchased the new album yet, please do so! Your support helps fund projects like these!

Uh Oh I'm Writing Again
I had not written a song since I finally finished "The Good Life" before recording the new album this past summer. It's crazy to think that in all this time I haven't even had time to write music... which essentially is my job! But I've been touring a lot and promoting the new album, so that's how it goes sometimes.
But last week I had 10 days off and I did it. I wrote a new song. It felt good and I like it a lot. I haven't figured out what to call it yet, but it will most likely be "Say This Line."
I also wrote two more new songs tonight, "I Don't Know" & "Open Road." The cool thing about these two songs is that I accomplished something tonight that I've never been able to do before, which is write a song away from home. I'm actually in a hotel room in Fairview Heights, Illinois at the moment. I've never been comfortable to just sit and write in a hotel room, or even around Kelly for that matter, which is another giant accomplishment. I guess I'm fueled for writing at the moment. I've had a lot on my mind and I'm ready to get it out.
The problem when you release an album, or at least when I release an album, is that I'm a few years ahead of it by the time it comes out. "Brighter Side" is the new album, but it's already 2 years old for me. I'm hoping I can continue to write more and get an even "newer" album out to you soon. We shall see... one things for sure. The next batch of songs will be deeper, darker, and a lot more personal. When it does happen, be prepared for something different.
Anyway, I wanted to share that with you because I'm excited to be writing again. I missed it, it feels good.
