Welcome to a brand new project called Distribute. Here, Five Times August hopes to connect with fans on a whole new level by involving them as part time employees. The way it works is simple. Albums are available in bulk quantities at discount prices so you can resell them for profit. Essentially you are taking on the roll of a music retail store but in a much smaller way. Not only will this help spread the word about the music, but will hopefully help you make a few extra bucks as well! CD's are offered in quantities of 10, 20, or 30. The more you purchase the less the cost of each CD. The less you spend on each CD the more room you have to make a profit. Example: 1. Purchase a box of 30 "Life As A Song" CD's at $3.00 each for a total of $90.00 (+ shipping & handling) 2. Resell the CD's to friends and family for $10 each 3. You just made $210 profit! There are no rules, no terms and conditions, and no limitations. Once you've purchased a box and begin to distribute the CD's you can sell to whomever, whenever, wherever for however much you want. You can sell them gradually or try to sell them quickly, it's completely up to you! We take absolutely no percentage of your sales, so however much you make is 100% yours! The Point: Distribute is an investment by both the artist and fan. By offering these CD packages at such a low cost to you Five Times August makes very little (if any) money in return. However, the hope with this project is that fans will invest in their favorite music and begin to spread the word through their own personal network and get the music in other people's hands that may not have known or heard about it before. For your hard work and effort the least we can do is pay you for it! We believe the more people that know and have the music the better, and if we have to shave a few dollars of our own profit to get that done, why not give it back to the fans who believe in it and are really working for it? Tips: Start with who you know: The easiest way to get started is to approach friends and family first. You may already know some people who love the music but don't own a Five Times August CD. This is a perfect opportunity to finally get the music in their hands. If you are in a social club, sorority, fraternity, church group, etc, these are all really great places to introduce the music. Play it: If you live in a dorm or appartment, or are able to listen to music at work, pop a CD in so others around you will hear it and ask about it. Of course, only do so at appropriate times and at a reasonable volume. Try avoid getting the line "Hey, can you turn that down please ??" Listening parties and music clubs are a great way to introduce the music to others. Network it: Use your social networking profiles to promote Five Times August to your online friends. Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter are all easy ways to say "Hey I have a bunch of Five Times August CD's if anyone wants one!" New & used CD stores: Find all the local music stores in your area that buy new and used music. Most of these stores will pay anywhere from $4 to $6 for brand new sealed CD's. You could easily sell one or two copies to each store depending on their own stock. You're not a salesman: Selling anything to friends and family can sometimes be as awkward as a stranger knocking on your door selling Ginsu knives. Some people simply don't want a sales pitch (no matter what it is!). Be casual when talking to friends about Five Times August. Rather than saying something like "I can get you a deal on a CD," try something like "I'm helping out an indie artist by selling CD's for them, want to hear it?" Most people are interested in hearing new music. |
